Camping… Again!

Okay… so I am feeling much better today.  Less down and sad, more go with the flow.  Which I just wanted to say, is how I have been for the past couple of months.  Im taking everything one day at a time and being laid back the best I can.  The other day was just a very hard day for me.  So Ill stop sounding like a 15 year old emo kid now.  Thankyouverymuch.

So, we are headed for camping trip #2 of the summer tomorrow.  This time we have some friends tagging along with us.  Their son is the same age as Little Miss, so they will seriously have SO much fun together.  Last time we went it was just us, but our daughter was running around, climbing on tree stumps, playing with sicks and throwing rocks.  In other words?  She had a friggin blast playing outside for two days straight.  With a partner in crime she will have ever more fun.  Maybe Ill even post some pictures this time.

We did have a lot of fun on our last camping trip (obviously, or we wouldnt be going again so soon).  But what sucks about camping in the mountains?  Oye, the elevation can kick your sea level living ass!  Camping at 5,600 feet has crisp clean air… and its beautiful.  But every step you take requires a little bit more effort than you are used to.  The good part about that though, is after we got home from our last trip I was running better.  Coincidence?  Maybe.  We went for a hike to see some of the wonderful views the mountain had to offer, and we were so pooped (even Mr. never gets tired) after we got back to camp.  It was amazing though.

This time we will be near a lake, but its only going to be about 65 degrees while we are there… so no swimming.  We may each take a turn at fishing though. Its been years since I’ve went fishing, and I think I’d like to try my hand at it again.  We wont be eating the fish though… It grosses the hubby out.  Just catch & release this time. But Im okay with that.  However, if the lake has some good fish in it, next time I will be bringing a cooler to bring some home in.  Fresh caught fish is seriously the best. Well… obviously lol.

I just want to note, that I was feeling generous and wanted to post so pictures of our last trip here at the end of the post.  And like a moron, I tried to stick the memory card into the cd / dvd slot on the computer.  Seriously.  I get the Smartie award today.  Have no fear, I was able to get it out with my tweezers since I didnt shove it in there all the way.  lol.

Oh a Camping We Will Go…

So we are setting off on a camping trip this weekend.  Just the three of us.  We ended up changing camping locations due to the weather.  I was not about to go camping if it was going to be 35 degrees out at night.  No frigging thanks.  So we have a new place booked, and it looks like the sites are filling up, which is pretty good.  The original campground had no other sites reserved for that weekend.  I think its creepy to be the only people out there camping.  Once hubby figured out he was checking the weather for the wrong zip code, and that the one we booked was going to be C-O-L-D, that explained a lot.

We got new sleeping bags for the trip.  They are interesting… you can zip them together and make one big sleeping bag lol.  And they should be warm since they are rated down to 0 degrees F.  Only a few more things to get before we head out on Friday.  Im actually pretty excited  We havent went camping in such  a long time.  Ive got a book to read and bought a bunch of food haha.

I am thinking that baby girl will get bored though.  We are going to bring a few things for her to play with like bubbles and such… but Im not really sure what else to bring for her to do.  Maybe she will just have so much fun playing in the dirt that I wont know what to do with her. Maybe.  Maybe not.  I guess the only way to know is to get out there.

I am pretty excited about sitting around a fire with a few beers and roasting marshmallows.  It will be good for us to get away and just spend some time together.  Here’s to hoping the trip goes smoothly.  I will let you know how it wass once we get back.

Im glad Im back to blogging again.  I missed it.

Nothing Too Exciting

So Easter was mostly good.  We aren’t religious, so Easter is pretty much an excuse for baskets of candy, lots of food and drinking.  We were invited to an Easter Brunch but the hubby didnt want to go of course.  So we hosted some friends over here.  I made seriously way too much food.  We had Honeybaked ham, a small turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread souffle, and veggies.  Also made chicken enchilada dip, fruit salad, veggie tray, etc for appetizers.  For 6 people.  Yeah, I went a little overboard but oh well.  Everything was delicious.  But it did feel weird to not be with family.  Other than food we didnt really go all out or anything.  Baby Girl wore the same dress she wore on Christmas.  We dyed about 6 eggs to hide in the morning.  But she loved finding her basked and the few toys and candy inside.  I’d say the day got a B+.

The husband also decided that we were going camping next weekend.  Its been quite a while since we went camping and I know he has missed it.  It didnt help that once we moved to San Diego last year, he was gone the entire summer, and then most of the fall.  The new tent we bought two years ago?  Yeah we will finally use it.  No more cramming into the small 3 person tent.  Not enough room!  So, we are booked about 2 hours north in a state park, and it looks like a great area.  There is a lake not too far from our campsite and the weather forecast is in the 80s 🙂  Swimming here we come.

Also a trip to Vegas might be in the works.  Hubby has been talking about going a lot lately.  So we shall see!  I’d be pretty excited to go to Vegas for a weekend.  Not sure what we will do with our daughter…. dont really want to take a 3 1/2 year old to Vegas.  I guess we will have to work that out once we decide to actually go.

Well, back to work for me.  Take care all!
